Andy, does the first photograph have an observaratory ontop of the building? Its like an Old & New shot. The old building still standing with the new building across the water borrowing design from the past for a modern interprotation of shape.
That gives it a nice balance Andy. Very nice.
I love the rich clean colour in the second shot. Those cars are so shiny & clean. That car took off fast. It was gone in half a second.
Phil,
although Urania is now a cinema, I also know that they still do some kind of astronomy there which was its original purpose of course. The building across the water is the Uniqua Tower, and you are correct; from this angle it does mimic the old observatory across the water. At this point, the Vienna River joins the Danube Canal which is why (I think) you can see faster flowing muddy canal water in the background and clearer standing river water in the foreground. If that is the opposite way around form what you might have guessed, then that is Vienna for you, the city of a thousand contradictions!
