clay, sand and water

.....together with the desert heat they can produce some nice sights. There was a rare and strong rain (relatively for this month) that made the wadis here flow with water. In some places, the streams leave a sediment of clay, that rests on a bed of grains of red sandstone. The clay curls when drying, while the sand sticks to it.

The close-ups might easily be considered displaying remnants from some industrial production. An interesting find, methinks.

Its two extremes, the super smooth clay texture, like paint on a wall and the fine rough sand layer.
#2 shows the two layers very well. An interesting juxtaposition of two elements.
The harsh lighting adds another set of shadows.

Thanks for looking folks!
This is the second consecutive winter of relatively high rainfall in our area - 60-70 millimeters, when the average is around 15 mm. The day of the photo was two days after a bout of 20 mm. in less than a day. Hardly a significant amount for most of you, I know, but with amazing consequences for this desert.
