CCTV Video

For a while I've been doing a documentary photography project about CCTV.
As part of this I've made a short film using some of the photographs.
If you'd like to see it, it's here:

I've become quite interested in using multimedia to present photographs, I've presented 3 sets of photos in this way at public events.
The 'Magnum in Motion' series is a particular inspiration.

Thanks for looking.

David, your project is a must see. There are several powerful images that, I believe, will become iconic and familiar in the future. And the video is so good that I must think you're nothing less than a professional. The sound has a "fave" too ;-)

Anyway, I'm puzzled with several thoughts:
How could you shoot so many CCTV cameras before beeing stoped (as I presume from what you say in your blog)?
How did you manage to shoot inside the Big Brother facilities (considering that you're working against)?
Why are some of your links broken?

Thanks for sharing, and keep up the good work (watching the watchers) ;-)

Thank you for your very kind and flattering comments.

Getting questioned for taking photographs is not that uncommon in the UK, but as I'm in a public place there's not a lot that can be done to actually stop you from doing it. Also the irony of stopping someone for taking photographs of something that is filming them is not lost even on security guards.

Regarding getting permission to photograph control rooms; I stressed was doing a serious project about CCTV and not just an anti-Big Brother polemic, I was able to show I had had exhibitions and publications etc. and I dealt with press officers not security staff. Most of the control rooms were of public bodies who wanted to show they had nothing to hide and were accountable. Also, I think the video looks bleaker than the project as a whole – there's quite a bit of humour in some of the other shots.

I'm far from a professional, the film was made on an old iMac with FotoMagico and the sound done in Apple's GarageBand software.
But I am serious about photography and work on series rather than individual photographs. Most of these photos would not have been possible with my GRD2, but I used that to 'collect' photos of cctv warning signs etc.

I'll have a look at the problem with links (was this on my blog?)
