Capture raw AND jpg

Shooting > Picture Format > Format/Size: Choose RAW+.

Note that this follows the crop setting too, e.g. if you chose 47 mm what you get is the 47 mm-sized (if that makes sense) RAW and JPEG.

You can choose also to shoot raw only but you will only get a small vga jpg embedded for playback purposes which will have a very restricted zoom in capability and is obviously of low resolution. Zoomed details would not be a true representation of the quality of the actual capture.

If you choose to do this you can create a full sized jpg on demand - when looking at the image you wish to process in playback press "raw file development" (first item on the playback menu) then right arrow then enter and a full size jpg will be created and linked with the original capture as the next image shown. Once finished zooming you can easily delete this image if raw file only storage is desired. Getting a full size jpg copy of the raw capture must take less than a second in this manner.

Furthermore any raw file in the camera can be processed in this manner and re-created as many times as desired at will.

Raw file development in camera would be a very useful late add-in for another GXR firmware upgrade.
