Caplio R7 Video Volume

Hi, my wife has a Ricoh Caplio R7. Great little camera, but we have noticed that when replaying recorded video the sound levels although adjusted to the maximum cannot be heard unless the camera is held up to the ear and in a quiet environment. If uploaded and played back through a PC for instance volume levels can be adjusted satisfactorally.
Does anyone know if there is an issue with the video volume on this camera?

Is it the same with any video you record? Are you sure you did not cover the microphone with finger? Of course, there is always a chance there is something wrong with your R7 speaker.

It seems to be the same with any video that we record. We have been careful not to cover the microphone with fingers as this is what we originally thought that had happened.
