These are all very nice. The color is beautiful ... except for the last one....
It would sing as an ... uncolor image...

Thanks Don!

I don't think I'd ever trade B(lue)&W for B(lack)&W - but I did do a conversion of that shot to B&W just to see what it looks like, and I get what you mean. An artistic choice - but I don't "see" yet in B&W, and I don't think I ever will. For me, it's an effect - although I see how B&W helps to focus our minds or stress things in the image that color might distract us from.

I've learned that for me, taking a photo is not about creating an image, but trying to bridge the gap between experiencing something, and holding on to it.

BTW, you never got back to me about my invitation for dinner ;) : viewtopic.php?f=64&t=8851&p=48288#p48288

I think these are great shots - all of them - #3 (bar interior) my favorite. I love the pastel colours and the light.

Thanks very much Richard!

When are you going to show us some more color shots of Scotland? I'd be happy to see at least one color version of your B&W images of the countryside. I really like seeing the world and its color through this forum.

Hi quester,
I love them all for different reasons. #1 is such a strong image which reminds me of still-life oil painting. #4 is a super abstract, and #2 & #3 just great riots of colour. I must confess to liking the blue in the last image, and think it might be a shame to lose it also...boy are we not all different (and a good job too) with our tastes on this planet! :D

I'll happily post some colour shots of Scotland - I just need it to stop raining so that I can take them!

Now do you see why I want Ricoh/Pentax to make a premium large-sensor compact with weather-sealing? ;)
