I took my remote apart and soldered a 1/8" stereo jack to the little circuit board on a short length of wire. I used the other end of that cable(origionally a 2m headphone extension)to attach a small pushbutton switch. It isn't a 2 stage button which doesn't really matter because I'm too far away to see the screen anyways. It still focus' before shooting(I use manual focus though). I than put it(GX100) in front of the bird feeder set to continuous. Works great with a 6m extension between my 2 cable halves, as long as I hold the button it takes pictures. I figured I've got a better chance this way than just using interval shooting.
