Bug in GXR-M firmware 1.50, or defective camera?

Hi.

My camera was neglected for some time because of lack of time for photography. I've started to use the GXR-M again this week. I've upgraded the camera and M-module to firmware 1.50, because I liked the RAW-only option for storing pictures. It seems the camera has a problem.

When I do the following:

- Do a full image magnification and focus
- Press the shutter button halfway to get the full view and compose
- Take the picture
- (Camera magnifies again)
- Press shutter button half way to get the full view again

Then, the image turns purple... it reminds me of the dreaded Canon Powershot A80 defective sensor problem. When I press the shutter button again halfway, the image is normal. When I take pictures without magnifying the image, then everything is normal. I've never seen this problem before. Resetting the camera to the defaults (even going as far to remove all BOX and MY settings...) does not resolve this.

As the problem exists if and only if the magnification is used, and only on the first half-press of the shutter button, I tend to believe that this is not a problem with the sensor, but with the firmware.

Any thoughts about this? I'm going to mail this to Ricoh too, but I'd like to know: can I safely downgrade to version 1.44 to test if it's a firmware problem? I'd rather give up "Save RAW only" than have this problem...
