Boxing Day 2013 (26 December)

Blow-in

Active Member
Climbing up to the Fyrish monument is becoming an annual event for us...either on Boxing Day or New Year's Day. The weather was ideal today.

This is not the usual angle for posted shots.

More on the monument here: http://www.bletherskite.net/2011/06/21/ ... -monument/

An interesting place with an interesting story.
Makes me wonder what could have been built if they kept going.
Your angle makes them look like Henge or Easter Island monoliths a bit to me.

Tim,

Thanks - this is a more usual angle (shot from the rear overlooking the Cromarty Firth) although the most common is a frontal view. The monument is not quite on the top so that there is a good view of it when looking-up from the main road near sea-level.

And here is a frontal shot.

It was quite busy on the track - nice to see families out for a bit of exercise.
