Have been reading a few threads about straps for the GR/GX cameras. Haven't seen a single mention of the supposedly excellent Black Rapid straps - has anyone tried these with their Ricoh?

On one hand it looks cool and very functional but on the other hand isn't it kind of big for a GR/GX? But for a DSLR I sure wouldn't mind one :)

Hej Grus!

Always nice to see a fellow Swede on a global board. :)

The thing is, the actual size of the strap doesn't matter much as it sticks to the body anyway, and the new BR connectors are fairly compact. The strap itself holds a couple of memory cards and could probably hold a spare battery as well, meaning you don't need a bag at all. There seem to be few other good quality camera straps available for the small eyelets on the Ricohs, so figured this might be an option... I'm considering one for my SLR, might try it out on the GX as well.

The only reason for Black Rapid is when carrying two dslr. Usually I have my Nikon D3 with 24-70 f/2,8 in the original neckstrap and D2x with 70-200 f/2,8 hanging in Black Rapid.
I feel unsafe with Black Rapid. It's not the hook that are the weak part, but the mount in the tripod thread has loosen too many times, so I can't recommend it as a safe product.

Another Swede! This is crazy...

Anyway, thanks for the input, Martin. I'm reluctant to splurge out €60 or so on an A&A strap from Japan, not being able to see it first. Any other good ideas? Also, to Martin, do you have the ConnectR2 or whatever it is they call their swivel hooks? That is, the upgraded version...

I have the old version. The primary idea is the same, to screw it in the tripod thread.

I think this strap does not suit such small camera like GRD/GX. It's useful for big guns, but I think it will loose half of its advantage just because of small GRD/GX weight. Sure, A&A straps are expensive and some of them are not even directly usable with Ricohs (without small modification), but if you need a strap for your camera, A&A straps are perfectly matching and very representative choice.
