Now and then I do miss flip up screen for those low angle and waist level shots on my GR. Unfortunately Ricoh didn`t provide EVF which is a shame. I always have one for GXR in my bag, it saved me couple times nice shots. I do recall seeing somewhere ad for a mirror to be used with fixed LCD. Well, you don`t have to buy it, there are plenty plexiglas or lexan silvered mirrors which can be cut to size and hinged one or other way on the camera. Here comes my request to almighty Ricoh. May it fall on you otherwise deaf ears that ignored many advices for future development of GXR and GR, proposed by your faithful followers. Now, as to aforementioned use of mirror, could you great Ricoh, in your next FW add a function that would flip display upside down thus enabling an upright and unreversed view in the mirror. You could even manufacture one yourself, brand it Ricoh invention and sell it for 100$ . What do you think fellows Ricoholics? Stanislaw

I think that is a great idea.
Because it is great, it will probably never be.
But who knows, if you suggest it to them, it might tickle the fancy of one of the firmware developers.
Wouldn't it be interesting to be a fly on the wall of the R&D dept. when they read your request?

And it`s so simple task, quester. A few lines in FW that`s all. Yes, that would be a ballpark, to sit hidden somewhere in their RD and hear them say: ho, ho that cheeky riccadonna, hey Yoshimura! write him a mail like this: If you want articulated LCD in our camera, just buy Pentaxricoh 645 Z ! he,he. And if he complains about pocket friendly camera then tell him to buy next suit with very big pockets which he`ll need anyway to carry all that cash for 645Z, he,he, he.
p.s. by the way a very knowledgeable photographer M.T. recently said: if Ricoh takes a sensor from 645Z and builds a foldable fix lens 28mm eq. it will sell like hot cakes.
I second him answering Ricoh, just do it and I`ll take care of that big pocket holding my dough needed for MF GR. But remember articulated LCD!

Maybe between you and me, we will finally get from "high in the Custerdome" * of Ricoh Corporation an environmentally-sealed GR with an articulated LCD ! ;)

And for those of you who don't know it, this is a good opportunity to get acquainted with "Gaucho", a truly great Steely Dan song.

I do hope so even if having a bit of an uneasy feeling that not that many japaneese have our sense of humour, especially those up in Ricoh zaibatsu or keiretsu hierarchy.
