Art for arts sake II

Spent the day at the Sydney Art Gallery today. Missed the Picasso exhibition but didn't come away empty handed. Hope you enjoy a small selection. (Couldn't decide between the two of Pocahantos so added both.) ;)

A very nice set and good to see the GXR getting an outing. I like the way you have captured the foreground scene in the first picture with the painting in the background. I also particularly like 'Loneliness'. Of the 2 of Pocahantos I prefer the second - mainly I think because there is less distraction in the background. Interesting looking gallery.

Thanks for your interesting comments blow-in. Much appreciated. :D
ps..I personally see a few more dots to connect in the first one, be interested in hearing what observations others come up with.

Great to see some insides of Art Galleries.
In my town they have banned photography in the Gallery. :(

That's quite sad IMO. Although flash is not allowed (understandably), photography being an artistic medium (argued by some.... ), it's nice to be able to make art out of existing art (double art?)... Equipping children (teens-) with a camera and letting them loose in a gallery often leads to a self learned appreciation of art through the eye and resulting images of the photographer/budding artist/youngster......
Think I may have mentioned previously that travelling exhibitions in this gallery are not usually open for cameras, the current Picasso exhibit being an example.

Its a strange thing, but I love those classics like the lone person staring at an image or piece of art. You get the sense that they have been there for hours either trying to decipher what they see or just enjoying it - who knows.
Yes, even one of my kids had the guard run up waving a finger when they reached to rerecord a piece. I was saddened for sure.
All I think it needs is copious "No Flash" signs and leave people enjoy - (although I doubt that flash hurts anything, expect a bit annoying of those white walls)

This is a neat series. You got so many things going for you here; the gaze in Model For Me stops me dead in my tracks.
