Hi to all,
which is what i should have done before posting questions on the R series forum (sorry) but thank you very much for the replies and help inspite of this!!
a little bit about me-i had never really thought about photography until the recent death of my Father and i came into possesion of his camera (very unused i think), and it suddenly dawned upon me that we had so few family photographs especially in the later years, and seeing as eventually memory's can fade, i have decided to try capture (good and bad) what i can for the future,
i doub't i will be good, but think it will be interesting (for me) along the way, so eventually when i do post pictures, any comments will be gratefully recieved, especially critical, as what does'nt kill you makes you stronger - so it goes.
thankyou for reading this.

Bailey, there is no need to apologize! None of us here born as a native photographer and we are all in the middle of learning process. So there is nothing wrong about asking questions! I'm sure I speak for everyone here that we don't mind to help anyone who ask for help.

I'm sorry to hear about your recent loss! It's always sad losing relatives. You are right about capturing as much family moments as possible. Thanks to digitals, it's now very easy to capture all important moments for future. Just don't forget to make backups! Digital photography, unlike film photography, is prone to lose all captured moments in a fraction of second! So make at least one backup of all your photos on a separate disk!
