Another Rumor

Thanks for the link Bertalan,

I'm not really familiar with the K mount, but I would have thought this mount is quite large in diameter for a compact camera? :?: Thoughts anyone?

I'm a bit unconvinced about this rumor but I suppose all will be revealed in time. :o

I think the K-mount idea is a rubbish. But of course, I can be wrong. I can't imagine any good reason why should Ricoh put an "unknown" lens mount with relative small range of lenses on their camera? An older rumor form a very reliable source said that Ricoh is working on something based of Contax G2 digital prototype. In other words, this new camera should be something in rangefinder style. And because Ricoh lenses are exceptional quality lenses, I don't see a reason why should Ricoh use Pentax lenses? Leica mount would be much more reasonable move. At least if it really should be something in rangefinder style. I guess we will "soon" see where is the truth ;)

Yes, but his was for SLR lenses. I'm still not sure this would be a vise step for modern digital camera? The only possible reason for this step could be the availability of some pancake lenses and overall small size of Pentax lenses (at a cost of image quality).

Well, I personally hope it will not look like that, not even closer to this "draft". Smaller version of Contax G2 would look much more appropriate.

Oh yes, please.
Just sold my Contax G2 and looking forward to buying my first digital camera. But I don't have deep pockets and need to spend wisely. Let's see what Ricoh has in store, or it will be the GRD 3 or the new rumored Leica.

that would be nice too, especially if the lenses are as good as the Contax ones.
I see also some of the Ricoh wide angles for Leica M Mount have a big following and these lenses command high prices.
Goes to show Ricoh can design and make good optics

What image quality are you talking about? Pentax lenses are one of the best around.
