an unexpected bloom

These are wall-rockets (Diplotaxis acris), flowers of the mustard family that are quite common, but rarely seen down here for lack of rain. We were fortunate to get some nice bouts of rainfall in late October (only about 30 mm., but that's a lot for this area), so we're seeing some nice flowering. A beekeeper friend of mine has brought some hives close by.

Some more great shots with wonderful colours and 'bokeh' - unless you knew I don't think you would take these to be PX shots.

Nice set quester. The contrast of the flowers, sand and blue sky is very appealing.

Thanks people. All sharpened in Picasa of course, and I believe the ones with the bees were in Loupe mode. There was a light breeze, but things turned out quite focused. Things like this make me pleased with Ricoh.
 
Excellent series Quester, just goes to prove what the PX (& a good photographer) is capable of :D
