A good buy

Several pics taken this morning with a newly purchased GXR(yesterday). A friend put me onto a shop which had all Ricoh's for 50% off. What a buy!(the last one)
The ukulele is one I completed a few weeks ago. High contrast seems to work nicely...apart from the lovely skin tones :D

The ukulele photos are fantastic!
Thank you again....Must say it sounds really sweet too.... ;)

Makes me want a GXR even more....I wonder if Ricoh will bring out a 'GXR2' body soon so that at least that part of the purchase price might drop for the 'old' model? 50% is barking as a business model - well done in taking the plunge!

Thanks Blow-in. Hard to resist really at the price.
Bit sad though. The shop is one of a chain and the salesmen tell me that they are getting rid of Ricoh's off the shelves as they're just not selling here in Australia. Seems most of us Aussies are pretty dumb sheep when it comes to buying cameras - sticking to the well advertised and hence most popular(though not always best) brands. In that sense Ricoh may only have themselves to blame(little or no advertising, except in photo magazines), at least in this country anyway. Salesmen(if photographers at all) also have a habit of using well known brands and hence pass on their limited knowledge to potential customers. That's my experience anyway.
Still I can't complain! Walking into a shop and picking up an S10 for half price doesn't happen every day.... :D :D

Many congratulations on your wonderful purchase Marcus  :D ... you must be very happy and just like the ukulele - i wish you many many super images to come ;)

i remember a documentary on television some time ago that (if i remember correct) made mention that the Ukulele came origionally from the south sea islands - also it seems like you may build the Ukuele yourself - that they are your own work :?:

Many thanks ... Kort .

:)

Thank you Kort. Happy I certainly am.... :D
Not sure about the South Sea islands for the original home of the ukulele. My understanding is it came to the islands of Hawaii(etc) from the Portuguese when they first arrived there in 1879. It was known then as Braga(?). The word ukulele is Hawaiian for 'jumping flea' funnily enough.
This is the first uke(and instrument) I have made myself. I always wanted to be a Luthier and a chance meeting with a ukulele a few months back got me hooked on the idea of making one. Turns out I can throw one together pretty well.. ;) ....It makes beautiful music so think I'll stick to playing it for a while until the urge to make the next one comes along... :D
