7 Ricoh Photo Contest.

Anyone from here participated in this contest? If so, what picture did you post?

Because of the "Beautiful Colors" theme, I first thought about this highly abstract picture:

But I ended up with the image I decided not to post in last contest...
file.php

I like it for its colors, simplicity and very nice out of focus rendering, so uncommon for small sensor cameras.

Too bad the contest is for JPEG and unprocessed files. I have some nice DNG files, which looks ugly in JPEG, due to hight JPEG NR. I wish there would be a special "creative" category available for processed pics. But on the other hand, my chances to win would be dramatically reduced because of excellent works posted by many users of this forum! ;)

I participated and this is the picture I submitted this time.

Nice pictures Pavel, I liked the one you chose last time already and think it's an even better fit this time considering the theme.

Nice colorful image Cristian! It perfectly matches the contest theme! In my opinion, much better than mine ;)
For the last contest I ended up with "fire" picture, which was nice, but probably to noisy and somewhat complicated. So this time I decided to go with something simpler ;)

And what about the rest of you guys? I'm sure I and Cristian are not the only two ricohers participating in this contest? Don't be afraid (or lazy?;) ) to show us your contest photos!

Entered this pic. Taken with Caplio R2. Prior to being able to track down Caplio GX100 locally. Small mountain herb, Hypericum aethiopicum, used in traditional medicine to treat backace, kidney & abdominal complaints, heal sores and venereal diseases. Never received a confirmation of pic having been received. Are you supposed to get one??. Might have made a mistake!!

Very nice picture.

And Ricoh never send confirmations when you submit photos for their contests. You only recieve one once it's finished.

Thanks, Cristian, for responding to my question. I am amazed to see those telephone booths still exist. Must be a tourist attraction!. I see in your blog the door has been opened to reveal the new equipment. Wonderfully blended colours - great photograph. Brings back memories as I lived in Nottinghill Gate in 1963.

Thanks for your comment.
These booths are everywhere and they also have them in black and I've seen one in pink  , the only thing changing over time is the equipment inside.

Any winner here? My photo was not chosen as the winning one, but at least it will be displayed at Ginza Yokyo Hall in Tokyo. How many people can say they are exhibiting in Japan? :D

I am not a winner too, but also my photo will be shown at the exhibit in Tokyo and on their website. In total there were 1,106 submissions.

Yes, I agree, it is a nice feeling that on a wall somwhere in Japan there is a photo that you yourself took and others will see - people you can only guess about. I am happy that they accepted a photo taken with a Caplio R2. Very good way of advertising their product!. Perhaps the photo is not printed but on multiple screens which viewers just klick through. :)

Nice report Cristian! And thanks for "nudging" the Ricoh people about some GRD features. Too bad to hear about the phase detection focus. If nothing else, it looked cool ;) But I can see why they removed this feature from GRDII and the manufacturing costs are (most probably) only a part of the problem. I myself experienced some focusing problems with phase detection focus. It's fast, but it can fail in many cases. CCD based focus seems to be much more precise.

Thanks Cristian! Now I can say I'm exhibiting in Japan ;) A lot of nice photos displayed. I wish I could be there to see them all. Maybe next time?

Thanks Cristian for your special effort here. At least my family now believe me instead of assuming that I have been into too much rottgut wine. :)

You are welcome. Which photo is yours?
I tried to take pictures of all but simply ran out of time so I hope your picture is clearly to see.

Christian, did you by any chance saw (or photographed) this one?

I already checked your gallery from exhibition but did not see it here. But maybe they are not all photos your made? I would like to send it to my friend who photographed it and participated in the contest. She would be happy to see it on the wall in Japan ;) Thanks!
