To be honest i don't dislike even the "clean" images that come out from a cmos larger sensor, maybe because they have more micro details and they work good with micro contrast's algorithms imho
Idea #1 gets my vote too. Clever use of the railings with the pinstripe and I can't help feeling the guy paid quite a bit for that hair cut. How did you get the camera so high above the subject?

luckily the road is a bit downhill so perhaps the camera was less high than it may seem, by the way it was so close to the subject and the photo was taken just a moment before the subject turned his head to the right.
After i don't think he realised what happened.
